Server/Web Environment Requirements
Tasks Jr. is web-based software that must be installed into a web server environment. However, this doesn’t mean that Tasks Jr. can only be installed onto a web server. Most modern computers are very capable of running a web server and a database. Tasks can be installed onto any computer that has:
- A web server (usually Apache or IIS) compatible with PHP.
- The PHP engine (version 4.1 or later, including PHP 5) installed and configured with the web server.
- Access to a MySQL database (normally installed locally).
All of these are available for Windows, Mac OS X and Unix/Linux systems - most even have friendly installers.
Run the Server Check script to see if your system is ready for Tasks Jr. If the server check fails, you may want to look into a Use Tasks account or sign up with one of our recommended hosts.
Browser Requirements
Tasks Jr. requires a modern browser with JavaScript enabled. It has been tested successfully in the following browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x (Windows)
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (Windows)
- Firefox (Windows, Mac OS X, Unix/Linux)
- Mozilla 1.2+ (Windows, Mac OS X, Unix/Linux)
- Netscape 7.x (Windows, Mac OS X, Unix/Linux)
- Camino (Mac OS X)
- Safari (Mac OS X)
- Opera (Windows, Mac OS X, Unix/Linux)*
* Certain versions of Opera have shown problems with various Tasks Jr. features.
